Every Winner of a Major “Game of the Year” Award since 2013 (TGA, TGJ, BAFTA, Steam, GDCA, and DICE) by Year

Disclaimer: The Game Awards and Steam's "Game of the Year" Game Awards did not exist prior to 2014 and 2018 respectively – nor were there good equivalents for games that actually released that year, so they only start in those years.

TItles: TGA – The Game Awards / TGJ – The Golden Joystick / BAFTA – British Academy Games Awards / Steam / GDCA – Game Developers Choice Awards / DICE – Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain)

Trivia: Baldur's Gate 3 is the only title to win in every award show for its respective year, 2023.

Closest is Elden Ring, which won 5 times (and was nominated again in 2024 for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion), and Breath of the Wild, which was nominated 4 times (did not win any Steam Game Award, even the "non-specific" ones they did prior to 2018, likely because it's not accessible on Steam), followed by God of War, which also held onto 4 (I have BOTW higher because BOTW won 80% of the awards – GOW only won 66%).

The most disputed years are 2014, 2019, and 2021, all of which had 4 separate winners – though 2014 only had 5 Awards given out.

Several of these games are now among the best selling games of all time (as far as I can verify), including GTAV (2nd), RDR2 (4th), PUBG (6th), TW3:WH (8th), with OW (11th) just out of the Top 10.

The highest Metacritic Score of all winning games is 97 – from Breath of the Wild and Grand Theft Auto 5 – followed directly by both Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring, which both have 96. The lowest is Fortnite with 78, followed by Black Myth: Wukong and Untitled Goose Game, which both have 81.

The best selling game on the list is (obviously) Grand Theft Auto V – the lowest (from what I can find) are Returnal and Hades, both of which have supposedly sold just over 1 million units.
