I recently passed my eWPTX certification and wanted to share my experience with you all. First of all, this is a great and practical black-box penetration testing exercise.
Please note that this is solely my personal opinion and will not reveal any answers from the examination.
I bought the INE Premium subscription during last year’s Black Friday sale, which included access to all premium content, one exam voucher, and a 50% discount code for purchasing another exam. Before attempting the eWPTX exam, I had already passed the eCPPTv3, for which I spent around six months preparing. After that, I purchased the eWPTX exam voucher. I’ll share my eCPPT experience in another blog post.
I have experience in web application penetration testing, as well as mobile and API testing. I’ve been involved in several similar assessments through on-the-job training, bug bounty programs, and freelance projects. In my opinion, the eWPTX exam isn’t easy but it falls somewhere between intermediate to hard in terms of difficulty.
Regarding the training and materials, I went through the eWPTX learning path available on INE. They recommend completing this path before attempting the exam. Also, they recommend to complete the eWPT certification and path before doing this. However, since I already had experience in web application penetration testing, I decided to skip the eWPT learning path. If you’re someone who is new to this field, I highly recommend taking the eWPT exam before attempting the eWPTX.
