Recently, I was scrolling through my Steam library trying to figure out what I could play and found nothing, I was dying of boredom. Then I asked myself what I could play, and I remembered this game called Expedition 33. I knew it had massive hype around it, I knew it was very story heavy, but despite all that hype, I knew almost nothing about it beyond the name. A perfect game to buy completely blind.
I originally expected a game that feels like it had a 200 million dollar budget, and when it comes to sound and combat design, that’s definitely the case. But in some areas, like the running animations or the level design, you can feel that it’s an indie game, and I love that. It feels like one of those games you used to randomly buy in a store back in the day with no expectations, and then just enjoy it without constantly comparing it to others or saying ‘this game does X better.
