By skyforbes As you all know, ChatGPT launched the "branch in new chat" feature a few weeks ago. It's honestly one of my favorite features – being able to branch off from any point in a conversation into a new thread is incredibly useful.
I loved it so much that I requested the Gemini team to add this feature 6 MONTHS ago. But Google being Google… it still hasn't arrived ๐ญ
I desperately needed this feature because my workflow depends on it heavily. So I decided to find a workaround.
My Workaround:
- I have two Gemini accounts (work email and personal email)
- I chat on the first account
- When I reach the point where I want to branch, I SHARE that conversation
- I open the shared link in my second account
- And yeahh! I can continue from that exact point of chat without affecting the original chat conversation ๐
Yes, it's an extra step. But IT WORKS!
Is anyone else using this trick? Or do you have a better workaround?

Quick Update:- 3 Dec 2025
– I just shared a chat, opened it on the same account, and continued the conversation, it works!. No need for a second account; this branching works on the same Gemini account. Lol, why didn't I try this before? (I guess, my brain probably just assumed it wouldn't be this easy). Hahaha.
