Which Platform Is Really Winning in 2025?
If anyone had asked me far back in 2020 which social media platform would be dominating in 2025, I would have laughed and confidently said TikTok without any form of hesitation.
At that time, TikTok was the unstoppable rocket ship—everywhere you turned, someone was lip-syncing, dancing, or explaining how to make whipped coffee; the experience was quite amazing.
Now, here we are, five years later, and while TikTok is still very much in the game, a surprising contender has emerged and made itself impossible to ignore: Threads.
Before I dive into the numbers and trends, let me quickly back up and share a bit of my personal social media journey.
I’ve been an unapologetic app-hopper for years. I was on Facebook back when you still had to be in college to sign up.
I was on Instagram when posting a badly lit brunch photo was the height of content creation.
I joined Twitter (now “X”) when hashtags were just starting to shape conversations.
Then came TikTok, which, at first, I thought was for teenagers until I found myself scrolling at 2 a.m., completely hypnotized by dog videos and cooking hacks.
