Growing Up Twice: A Review of Lady Bird and Little Women

Finding meaning in the small, ordinary moments of growing up through Gerwig’s films

I watched two movies against my will last week. The first one was Ladybird for my cinema class, and the second one was Little Women because my friend and I have already watched all of Netflix’s catalogue, and I refuse to pay for another streaming service.

However, apart from Timothée Chalamet TikTok edits, both Greta Gerwig movies gave me something to think about (or at least I have, because it is part of my assignment for university).

Both movies convey a compelling message about growing: it is externally boring but internally powerful. Similarly, they also share takes about womanhood and, of course, TikTok edits and scenes.
