internet personality Haley Welch, known for her memes, has faced negative reactions and serious allegations following the crash of her memecoin HAWK.
According to a BBC report, memcoin HAWK, created by Talk Tuah hosts based on Solana (SOL), lost more than 95% of its value within hours of launch, prompting youtuber Coffeezilla to accuse Welch of implementing a pump-and-dump scheme. The pump-and-dump scheme artificially inflates the coin’s value through hype and misinformation. The owners of the coin who bought the tokens cheaply (or got them for free) will then sell those tokens at a higher price and drive the price down.
In a statement copied and posted on social media platform X, Welch denied all allegations of misconduct.
