For the last couple years I was a thumbnail designer on YouTube, learning about psychology and what entices people to click on the video. Yesterday I was thinking about movie posters and how I can only think of maybe two movie posters that made me think “wow I should check that out.”
Most posters lately have been wasted opportunities to drive more viewers to see their films. So many just rely on the floating heads of every character in the movie and they look so uninspired. They pretty much solely rely on how popular the actors in the film are to try and sell the film. Taglines are now quite lazy too.
Have you guys ever been sold on a movie by seeing the poster for it? Any recent examples?
