Job description: Job Summary: Highland Community Unit School District No. 5, a PreK-12 district of 2,800 students located in the Metro-St. Louis area, is seeking a principal for the 2026-2027 school year for Highland Elementary School, grades 3-5 of approximately 600 students (full-time, 12 month position).About Our School

The Elementary School Principal serves as the instructional leader and administrative head of the school. This role is responsible for promoting a positive school culture, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, and managing school operations in alignment with district policies and educational best practices.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a shared vision for academic success.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional and support staff.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive school climate for students, staff, and families.
- Collaborate with teachers to analyze student performance data and implement effective interventions.
- Foster strong family and community engagement.
- Manage school resources, including budgets, schedules, and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal education laws and policies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
- Valid Illinois School Principal Certification or eligibility.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience or comparable, preferably at the elementary level.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a school administrator.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, particularly in elementary and middle school education.

Salary and Benefits
