Killing animals in fiction for shock value is lazy, uncreative, boring ass writing! Let the animals survive dangerous situations. Anyone can kill them off. But making them live to the end takes ACTUAL imagination.
A Quiet Place: Day One does a great job in this regard. Normally in movies like this, you expect the cat to die. That's the default.
Lazy! Unoriginal!! Overdone!!! Boring!!!! Do better!!!!!
THIS movie puts the cat through genuinely terrifying situations! The kinds that make you shut your eyes because you're convinced this is the moment. This is the end for the cat. You never expect them to make it out alive. And yet, to your utter shock and delight, they do! That's creative, fun, and far more satisfying than the tired trope of just killing off the animals.
Some boring ass writers could really learn a thing or two from this movie.
