Find product market fit
I can give you all the tips in the world, it won’t work unless you have a great product and product market fit. This means you need to find something that solves a need for your target audience. You should be able to hold up to your competitors but stand out with your unique skills.
Do your research with Marmalead (not sponsored)
Marmalead is a great tool if you’re new to Etsy. It gives you an overview of different search terms and tells you what is oversaturated and what’s undersaturated. This might help you find a niche for step 1
Have at least 10 products in your store initially
Your customers want to see variety. They will sense that your store is not mature enough when you’re only selling one or two items. Focus on getting a good product palette in before you even begin to take your products online.
Keep adding products on a regular basis
I try to add one new product every month. This way, the people who favorited your shop will get a notification and will return to buy something from your store. Also, you want to stay relevant.
Use the right tags, descriptions and photos on your listings
Do research on what you need to look professional. Your tags should be optimized for SEO and it might take a few trial and error rounds to figure out which ones work the best.
Create a social media account and run ads
Create an Instagram or Pinterest account for your brand. Try to engage with your audience by finding similar brands and engaging with their followers. If you have extra cash, I’d highly recommend running ads especially in the first few weeks until the first few reviews are in.
Have a clear goal
Want to make $100 a month? $100 a day? Whatever it is, it is possible. You need to be hyper focused and work on your positivity and belief in making this a real business. I am a strong believer in Affirmation Cards and used custom designed cards to help grow my Etsy store. You can find more of those cards here: Effortless Life Affirmation Cards
Personally, I also write down my goals in my Business Notebook.
Add Coupon codes
Run a “buy 3 items get 15% off” sale! Users on Etsy love those — I had big success trying different coupons.
Don’t use Etsy Ads
I played with Etsy Ads for a bit but didn’t really gain any new customers from it. I wouldn’t invest too much in it.
Engage with your costumers on social media
I love when I talk to my customers on Instagram and ask them how they liked the product. Often times, they would share their final product on their personal IG and tag me. It’s a win win for both sides.
