Hook ‘em In The First 3 Seconds
The first few sentences of your post will either make or break your reader’s interest. The first paragraph is the most important if you want to capture and keep your reader’s attention. I’ve been a published writer for many years, but blog writing is different than most other forms of writing. Wanna know how to write a blog post your audience reads all the way through to the end? Write for your readers! Give them something… inspiration, a lesson learned, a laugh… whatever you have to offer! Give them a reason to want to read on and even click through to other blog posts and subscribe because you’re just that good!
Start With Anticipation. End With Satisfaction
Three seconds and 40 characters. That’s all you usually have to work with when trying to capture and keep the attention of someone reading your post. Your intro is the most important! I usually spend most of my time writing and rewriting my first paragraph. I go back and rewrite it several times before it’s good enough. Make it catchy, quirky, funny, unbelievably informative, relatable, or inspiring. Give them a reason to keep reading.
Grab Their Attention
This is an unforgiving step. If you fail to get your reader’s attention in the first several seconds, they’ll either click away or send you into the abyss of cyber space. Lost forever. Take your time and think about your opening. Remember it’s about them and what they want. Make your posts relatable! Write something that makes them feel like, “Hey, they’re talkin’ about me!” or “Finally, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for!”
Blog Writing – How To Write A Blog Post People Want To Read
As a writer, I write stories. Since the age 23, I’ve been blessed to be writing for a living. Blog writing is a little different than news and magazine writing, but the point is the same. Whether you’re writing for a newspaper, magazine, a novel or your blog, you need to write for the people. So what’s in a good story? Wanna know how to write a blog post people want to read all the way til the end? First, let’s think about why people read your story? What brings them to your blog post? People read to find out something new and curiosity usually brings them. Or they read to find a solution, and a problem is what brought them. When telling your story, don’t give away the ending in the first paragraph. Give the readers just enough mystery and drama building up to the finale. And if it’s a solution you’re writing about, don’t reveal it until the end. First sell the problem. Talk about the issues surrounding the problem.
You can find great questions people want answers to on social media! Look for questions posted in Facebook groups in your niche as inspiration. Chances are more people want to know the answers to those same questions!
Don’t Forget The Who, What, Where, When And How!
And no matter what you’re writing always, always include: who, what, where, when and how! You don’t want to leave your readers with questions, after all they probably are looking at your article for answers!
Have a Conversation With Your Reader
Let your personality speak to your readers! Write as if you’re talking to your readers. Add a little humour, raw honesty or quirkinesses. Keep them entertained!
Blog Post Structure
Make sure to include headlines and graphics throughout to break it up!
Blog posts can be anywhere from 500-2,500 or more words, depending on your niche and style.
Blog posts usually have shorter paragraphs. This makes it easier to read through and keep your reader’s attention.
Link to other posts, within your post!
Have a conclusion.
End with a call to action. Either a subscribe button, a request for comments or a link to another blog post!

End On An Upbeat Note
Don’t let your article die out at the end. Alot of writers do this because they don’t know how to end on an upbeat note. And once all the good stuff is gone, they have nothing left!
Impressions are made with the beginning and end of your article. Create a feeling of anticipation in the beginning and a feeling of satisfaction in the end. Reiterate the most interesting part of your post! Remind them why they came to you:)
