I Changed One Line in ChatGPT’s Settings… and It Stopped Sounding Like a Machine

How a small setting made ChatGPT smarter and more human

I stumbled onto this by accident.

Two months ago, I was asking ChatGPT about What Type of Articles Work Better on Medium. The answer came back fast….. confident….. and completely polished. It felt like advice stitched together from every self-help blog on the internet. Generic. Safe. The sort of thing that sounds informed but tells you nothing you could actually act on.

I almost closed the tab. But then I remembered something a friend had mentioned… something about custom settings that most people never use.

Buried inside ChatGPT is something called Personalization.

You find it by clicking your profile picture.
