her being hostile in your first interaction shouldnt mean the drifter hates her, because so is quincy, minerva, somewhat arthur and lyon (by refusing to talk to you)
kaya is an isolated teenager that knows little about caring and being cared for, a nerd who had very little friends, of course she is gonna be selfish and hostile before you gain their trust. so was quincy, but you had the option to understand him
the whole drifter and kaya relationship is just an adult not trying in the slightest to understand a troubled teenager
