I was desperate.
Rent was due. My “emergency fund” was a $27 Starbucks gift card. And my 9-to-5? Barely covering gas money.
Like any millennial who lacks sleep and is logical,
I looked at TikTok.
“Made $3K in 3 days reselling thrifted jeans!” “Print-on-demand store = passive income while I sleep” and “People pay me $50 to name their businesses?? YES” were among the things I saw while browsing #SideHustleTok.
I took them all at face value.
I therefore chose three and gave them each a week.
There were two dumpster fires, spoiler alert.
One made all the difference.
This is what truly occurred — no nonsense, no filters.
Hustle #1: “Resell Thrifted Vintage” (Spoiler: It’s a Trap)
The Promise:
“Thrift a $5 jean jacket → list for $85 → profit = $80. Easy!”
What I Did:
→ Spent $40 on “vintage” finds at Goodwill (mostly stained tees and weird polyester blazers)
→ Took “aesthetic” photos with my ring light and a bedsheet backdrop
→ Listed on Depop + Poshmark
→ Waited…
