It was only a matter of time before AI invaded browsers. Enter OpenAI’s ChatGPT Atlas. I just started using it, and honestly? It’s changing how I think about surfing the web.

Side note: If you’re short on time, save to your reading list to revisit later.

Atlas is basically a browser built around ChatGPT. Your AI assistant is right there with you — no more tab juggling, copy-pasting, or awkwardly explaining what you’re looking at to chatGPT. It is looking over your shoulder and sees it!

Cool. Also terrifying.

It remembers context. Every site you visit, (including porn) every conversation you’ve had, even last week’s random research rabbit holes — it can bring it all back. If for example I’m using Atlas and doing a bunch of job searching all week. I can say, “Summarize all the job postings I checked last week,” and it actually does it. The company says you are “in control,” they say — you can view, archive, or delete “browser memory” anytime. But I personally don’t trust any company with my personal details. Banking, taxes, anything private? Nope, I want to do that in a more secure browser. This thing ChatGPT Atlas sees it…
