Months later, she asked me to watch her for a week while she went out of town and then refused to care for her upon her return. So my grandmother has been living with me the past three months.
I’ve been working on getting her setup in the nursing home w Medicaid and the social worker has been reviewing her bank records. She asked about a lump sum from social security that was immediately moved to a different account. I’m pretty sure my mother put the funds into an irrevocable trust but completely without my grandmothers knowledge. It seems that Medicaid will consider this an asset and she will be penalized. Do we have any recourse given these funds were set aside without my grandmothers knowledge? She is still of sound mind if that matters.
