TikTok has continued to dominate in the United States (U.S.) and this trend has once again hijacked the minds of teens. According to Google searches, the trend emerged in January 2025 with AI-generad characters like Tralalero Tralala and Ballerina Cappuccina.

Have you heard your teens or youngest children chanting things like “Tung Tung Tung Sahur” or “Bombardiro Crocodilo” it has a name. It is called “Italian Brainrot!”

We know the effect of social media apps continues to garner the attention of minds from younger users. It is not at all harmless because its aim is to rewire humor, attention and how we connect online.

According to addiction expert Will Burse, CEO of True Self Recovery, these are more than digital fads, “Italian Brainrot is just the latest face of a much bigger issue.
