K-Drama Review: Genie, Make A Wish [ 2025]

I just finished the K-Drama “ Genie, Make A Wish,” and I was disappointed. “Genie, Make A Wish” just dropped on Netflix. All episodes are out on Netflix. I was looking forward to this K-drama. I loved Bae Suzy and Kim Woo Bin since “ Uncontrollably Fond”.

I was so excited to see this K-drama. I was looking forward to seeing them again on-screen after several years. After finishing this K-drama, I was disappointed. I had high hopes going into this K-drama. However, the writing was a complete mess.

“Genie, Make A Wish” tells a story about a Genie who is referred to as Satan/Iblis and a human who cannot feel emotions, who is referred to as a psychopath. She will come across a lamp during her trip in Dubai. When she rubs the lamp, a genie will appear in front of her. She will be that genie’s new master. She will be allowed to make 3 wishes.

The moment this K-drama was released, it became embroiled in a religious controversy. People are mad that this series disrespected a religion because the male character is called Ibilis. People are even trying to boycott this K-drama.

I did not enjoy this drama, not because of all the religious controversies, but due to poor writing. This K-drama was a mess. This series was just a messy rollercoaster. It…
