Why LinkedIn Will Spectacularly Fail at Short-Form Video

LinkedIn wants to be TikTok now. You know what that means? It’s doomed.

You’re scrolling through your feed. You see Janet from accounting doing a dance about quarterly reports. Your boss is lip-syncing to trending audio about “synergy.” The CFO just posted a thirst trap about profit margins.

This is LinkedIn’s vision. To me, it’s absolutely terrifying.

The Platform Identity Crisis

LinkedIn has spent twenty years building one thing. Professional networking. Corporate updates. Job announcements. Boring stuff that actually matters for your career.

Now they want to throw it all away. For what? Dance videos?

You can’t be everything to everyone. LinkedIn is the kid who was great at math trying to become a rapper. It’s not happening.

The platform’s DNA is fundamentally wrong for this. When you open LinkedIn, you’re in work mode. Your brain switches to professional settings. You’re thinking about promotions and presentations.

Short-form video demands the opposite. It needs spontaneity. Authenticity. Raw emotion. LinkedIn users…
