So for 18-months ChatGPT has (more or less) always given me mostly good answers not bias towards location (not withstanding all the issues with the model changes).
Answers have never been location based or reference a geographical location, except that it knows I’m in Australia and answers relevant to me in Australia.
I live in Melbourne and never has it ever given me specific “Melbourne” based answers unless I’ve asked for something specific to Melbourne but generally it has never biased towards Melbourne.
So, for the last week I have been in Adelaide (for those not familiar with Australia it’s a different state capital city about 90 minutes flight west of Melbourne).
Strangely all of a sudden it knows I’m in Adelaide! I didn’t tell it I was in Adelaide, now a lot of responses hint that “as you live in Adelaide..”
This is strange behaviour as I never told it I was travelling in Adelaide, but now it’s angling that I live in this city.!!
Has anyone see this strange behaviour? How does it know I’m travelling?
I didn’t think it hooked into my time zone locale on my iPhone?
It’s not really a problem, just weird.
Anyone else seen this?
