What happened is pretty simple, I went on a little bit of a TikTok rant about how much I hate dating apps and it blew up OVERNIGHT. Two million views later, I got my inbox flooded with ‘Same!’ comments. But one DM caught my attention: a voice note that read, “I’ve watched this 17 times. “We’re going to teach the internet a lesson.’

It was a Tuesday when I uploaded my bonkers video rant about how dating apps are the ninth circle of hell. By Wednesday, it had received 2 million views — a viral meet-cute I hadn’t expected. The comments were a chorus of “Same!” and “No cap!” but one DM broke the mold. None of the lazy, “Hey,” or thirst-trap “😍.” A voice note from just some dude named Alex: “What if we tried something not terrible?” I nearly trashed it as spam, but for whatever reason I clicked “Play.”
