Maze Runner: This movie was pretty good for being a book adaptation, the effects and acting were pretty solid for the most part with Dylan O’Brien’s amazing acting skills. The music was pretty decent but nothing that stood out to me, the movie also did a lot of moments to create suspense (character looks like he’s about to get crushed or someone’s gonna die) which gets old after the first 3 times its done. Other than that the movie had good cinematography for not having much to work with and the script was okay though there was SO MUCH telling instead of showing when it came to plot elements, overall a 7.5/10 for me
Scorch Trials: This movie is amazing. This is a great sequel, the cast has great chemistry and there were a lot of AMAZING cinematography and symbolism type shots in the movie. Several times through this movie you will be impressed with how it’s shot and how great it looks. Same as the first movie the acting is pretty good but you really start to see some of the weaker actors pop through in this movie especially how bad Kaya Scodelario is (Teresa) the movie had a bit of weird pacing but the way they used practical effects on the cranks and did a lot of environmental storytelling was great. The ending, though it felt rushed, was an amazing emotional act and was great to watch, I would’ve liked more time for some of the other characters to develop and I don’t find the antagonists of this movie intimidating or anything in the slightest. Overall 8.5/10 for me
The Death cure: this movie also looks great, it’s filmed very well and again the actors (for the most part) do a pretty good job, the movie does a bad job of explaining or showing how gally survived a SPEAR IN HIS CHEST but that’s just one plot point, again the “villains” or antagonists aren’t intimidating or scary at all I found them more annoying than anything and they didnt have much development or even screen time. Also some of the most interesting parts of the movie like Walton Goggins character and his group just seem wasted and not explored at all. The last act of this movie felt pretty rushed and some characters like Frypan or Jansen just got NO time to develop or teach us about their characters, the antagonists in this movie are incredibly weak and I kept getting bored and annoyed every time they were on screen since they had nothing to do, I think this movie was decently solid overall but if I’m going back to watch any of these movies, this is the weakest one in my opinion. Overall 7/10
Very curious to know anyone’s thoughts on my opinions on these movies or if anyone felt the same. Thank you very much
