Medicaid Home Visits. Convenience?

Convenience?

I got a phone call a couple of weeks ago from Medicaid, my medical insurance provider. They said I qualified for home visits and that a nurse would come out to my home the next Wednesday between the hours of 12 and 5. At the end of the call, the lady said she was glad I was able to take advantage of this convenience.

Is that really a convenience though?

  1. A person I don’t know is coming into my home. I rarely have company from friends, much less people I don’t know.
  2. I’m autistic. A change in my routine like that could cause my anxiety to be off the charts.
  3. A 5 hour time gap?!

Instead, I can make an appointment to go see my doctor, who knows my health already, at a specific time. I get how it could be a convenience to some, but for me a home visit would be more of an inconvenience. I later decided to cancel, especially since I had an appointment with my doctor 6 days prior.
