This post is part of a series introducing the 2021 Civic Digital Fellows, a cohort of 98 students working to improve the federal government with their data science, design, product management, and software engineering skills. Meet some of them below.
Meet the Fellows
Anna Daccache
Anna is a second year master’s student at Northeastern University studying Computer Science.
Q: Why are you excited to be a Civic Digital Fellow?
A: I am excited to be a Civic Digital Fellow because working at the intersection of tech and health care is what I have been aiming for. The opportunity to learn from data scientists at the CMS feels like the best way to transition into a health tech career. I am looking forward to doing impactful work that has a direct effect on Medicare and Medicaid recipients.
Q: Who is the person you admire the most, and why?
A: The person I admire most is my grandfather. He was a surgeon and served in the Lebanese Parliament for several decades. The empathy and integrity he has as both doctor and civil servant navigating a complex political landscape were tangible. He had a lot of power but was known for his generosity and infallible ethics, two things that have inspired my pursuit of bettering the communities I am a part of.
Annie Kim
Annie is a recent graduate of Columbia University where she studied Information Science and Art History.
Q: Why are you excited to be a Civic Digital Fellow?
A: I am so excited to design for the public as a part of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services team. I’ve always wanted to help design technology that serves underserved users and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect opportunity.
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I sing in a very low-key funk band with some friends.
