It starts with a drum intro, and then the song Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ begins, starting from the iconic part…

It cuts to an aerial evening view of a packed arena.

It cuts to Michael walking with a black leather rock star jacket. It then cuts to him in a white t-shirt, SNAPPING!
It cuts to RABID fans at a concert. I was a ’90s kid. That’s really the first time I saw a Michael Jackson concert. It’s unlike anything you’ll ever see. The fans are wild.
It cuts to the Jackson family, laughing and having dinner. They still live in a humble home. Michael is still a little boy.
“Honor your past.”
It cuts to Michael Jackson on stage dancing, wearing a loose white dress shirt. So freakin’ ICONIC.
It cuts to multiple cameras flashing. Michael is doing a press conference. He still has an Afro. He wore sunglasses, and he wore a blue glittery military-style attire.
“And embrace the future.”
It cuts to Michael, at home, or maybe at a studio, singing in front of a piano player.
It cuts to Michael shooting the music video for Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough. Full disclosure, I was a big Michael Jackson fan as a kid. Every scene in the trailer, I have a frame of reference. I know the exact music video or concert where it happened. In many ways, this movie is made for people like us, hardcore MJ fans. I believe there are still many of us, despite the controversies. In fact, my only worry is NOBODY can PERFORM and DANCE like Michael Jackson, not even his own flesh and blood.
“That’s what people want.”
It cuts to Michael shooting the iconic Thriller music video.
It cuts to him doing the iconic spin move.
And then, the music changes into a mega mix of Ma-ma-say, ma-ma-sah and Billie Jean.
It cuts to Michael shooting the Beat It music video.
It cuts to him at a boardroom. You also see entertainment lawyer John Branca (Miles Teller) with long hair.
It cuts to Michael at the top of a car, waving to fans all around him in a busy street.
It cuts back to Michael on stage wearing a white dress shirt. He smashed his right hand. A small explosion with sparks BOOOOM on the right side of the stage.
And then, the screen turned BLACK. When it comes back, it’s back to Michael in the studio about to put his headphones on.
“Q,” Michael said, “Can you lower the lights for me, please?”
“Okay,” Quincy Jones said. “But remember, in here, keep those feet still, my man.”
“Hee-hee-hee,” Michael laughed.
It cuts to Michael Jackson on stage doing the first moonwalk at the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever TV special. This happened in March 1983. My Mom told me it rocked the world. It was ‘viral’ before the world even knew what viral was. They showed the moonwalk on the news every night.
It cuts to a fan in a concert fainting and being carried out by a concert staffer. That’s all true. I’ve seen it hundreds of times.
It cuts to Michael Jackson doing his iconic spin move at a concert, at the Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough MV, at Motown 25, at home as a kid watching James Brown on a wooden TV, and at the studio.
The trailer ends with Michael Jackson’s iconic,
“Aaaaaaaawwwwwwhhhh!”
