By skyforbes How many times have I seen a movie where a rich young person falls in love with a less rich young person and there is ALWAYS a scene where the rich son/daughter’s pretentious, asshole, arrogant parents (one or both) try to chase the love interest away and then make a big show of pulling out a checkbook. “Ok,” they say, while the poor guy/girl’s face registers hurt, shock, and bewilderment, “how much? What’s it gonna take to get rid of you?” “I would never! Hampton/Alesandra and I are in LOVE!” “$2MM and we never see you again” storms out in a huff
My question is, has this ever actually happened in real life? Has anybody actually tried to buy off their kid’s lover from the wrong side of the tracks? Or has someone offered you money to walk away from an affair?
