I'm in Arkansas .
I recently got a job and new health insurance, and I’ve been trying to make sure everything is billed correctly. I gave my pharmacy and doctor’s office my new insurance card, but they’ve been billing my old Medicaid BCBS instead.
I went to both the pharmacy and the doctor’s office to correct it, but I just got another letter from BCBS saying they covered the cost. Even though I told them to use my new insurance, they’re still charging BCBS. I’m terrified that they’ll come after me and say I owe thousands of dollars — I’m not trying to cheat the system, and I do have valid insurance that should be billed.
On top of that, a few months ago I got a dermatology cream from a specialist that didn’t work for me. I kept getting calls from their office offering to refill it, but I never called back because I dont want it. Now there’s a charge on my BCBS claiming I received it from River Valley Specialty, even though I didn’t. Is this some kind of billing error or fraud??
Surely there’s a way to back-bill the prescription and visits to my current insurance, right? I can’t afford to pay these bills out of pocket — that’s why I pay so much for my insurance.
Any advice or guidance would be so appreciated.
