My wife and I said goodbye to our old man Malley this afternoon. This is the last photo of him from this morning on a walk with cheeseburgers.

Our 13 year old boy Malley had been winding down this year and lasted a month longer that we expected. He was such a sweet boy, while also being a grumpy old man.

He was a great employee for my wife and I when we still ran our dog training business. He absolutely loved camping and exploring the woods. He loved barking at squirrels, but he was excellent with our cat.

My wife's brother is ID/DD and barely verbal, but he would scream Malley! Malley! Malley! when he saw him and Malley was very kind to him and handled his rough petting/playfulness with him very well.

He lived a very tough first year of his life as a stray, but the final twelve years were filled with happiness.

We always gave him the last bits of our meals because he was the most food motivated dog I've ever met in my life. He'd grumble at us if there were any scraps left on the table until he inevitably got them.

I broke my leg earlier this year and was unable to walk at all for a month. He loyally laid beside me during my entire healing process and was very helpful for me during recovery.

We did everything we could for him today. He couldn't go on long walks anymore, but he took a short one this morning and we fed him cheeseburgers.

We lost 2 pets to old age this year and we are down to just our sweet old Chihuahua.

Everything is going to be a lot quieter and lonely without our big old buddy.

His heart was not working well, but he's no longer in pain. His sedation was the calmest I had seen him rest all year. It was definitely time.

I love you Malley and I can't wait to see you on the rainbow bridge buddy.
