No Man’s Land (1987) is a terrific, rarely talked about film set at Christmas

For some reason, No Man's Land (1987) flew under the radar and not many people seem to know of it, but it's a fun 80s thriller. It was written by Dick Wolf (Law and Order), who reminds me a lot of Michael Mann with his crime dynamics.

No Man's Land is the original version of Point Break and Fast and Furious – the exact same plot of a young cop going undercover in some "exciting" crime ring (this time its Porsche theft), getting too involved, falling for a woman connected to the bad guy, etc.

But this time its about Porsches, has an awesome Harold Faltermeyer score, features Bill Duke, Randy Quaid, Charlie Sheen as the bad guy and DB Sweeney as the cop. Is also set in the weeks leading up to Christmas, so has that festive background vibe that makes it good to watch this time of year.

If you haven't seen it, its well worth checking out. The opening credit sequence is great.
