Odoo Review 2025
Odoo is the all-in-one platform that transformed how I manage my business and my clients.
If you’ve ever juggled spreadsheets, Trello boards, and endless Google Docs just to manage your business, you know how chaotic it can get.
A few years ago, I stumbled upon Odoo, an open-source business management suite. Back then, I just needed something to organize my freelance work. Today, I use Odoo for both my personal systems and for designing business management dashboards for clients, and honestly, it has transformed how I operate.
In this post, I’ll share my honest review of Odoo, what I love (and what I don’t), and why I believe it’s one of the most underrated tools for freelancers, solopreneurs, and small businesses in 2025.
What Is Odoo?
Odoo is an open-source ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) platform. I love to think of it as a collection of integrated apps that help you manage every part of your business in one place:
- CRM for client management
- Projects for task tracking
- Invoicing for payments
- Accounting for finances
- Website & eCommerce for online presence
- Inventory, Sales, HR, POS — literally everything you might need as you scale
Unlike most platforms that require third-party integrations, Odoo lets you do it all under one clean, customizable dashboard.
How I Started Using Odoo
When I first started freelancing, my tools were scattered; Notion for planning, Google Sheets for tracking, and separate invoicing apps for payments.
Then I found myself managing multiple client systems and realized I needed something more unified. That’s when I discovered Odoo.
I started by setting up a simple CRM to manage my freelance leads. Over time, I added Projects, Accounting, and Documents apps — and soon, I was using Odoo to manage both my business and my clients’ systems.
Now, as a Notion Systems Designer and Odoo Consultant, I help businesses build centralized dashboards that automate operations, improve visibility, and save hours every week.
Key Odoo Features That Make a Difference
Here are some of the features that make Odoo stand out for me and my clients:
1. Modular Design
You only install what you need, whether it’s CRM, Projects, or Accounting. This keeps the system lightweight and tailored to your business.
2. Seamless Integration
All Odoo apps talk to each other. A lead in CRM can automatically create a project task, generate an invoice, and update accounting; no manual syncing.
3. Custom Dashboards
You can create personalized dashboards for operations, finance, or marketing. I’ve built entire business management dashboards for clients using these features.
4. Automation
Odoo lets you automate repetitive workflows, from follow-up emails to inventory updates.
5. User-Friendly Interface
Despite being an ERP, Odoo’s modern UI makes it approachable even for non-technical users.
How I Use Odoo for My Clients
Most of my clients are small business owners, agencies, or freelancers who want more structure in how they manage projects, sales, and finances.
Here’s what I often set up for them:
- Business Management Dashboard — overview of sales, clients, projects, and payments
- Custom CRM pipeline for tracking leads and client relationships
- Project management boards with automated task flows
- Financial dashboards for expense and income tracking
By consolidating everything into one system, clients reduce tool fatigue, improve collaboration, and make better data-driven decisions.
What I Don’t Love About Odoo
No tool is perfect — and Odoo has its quirks:
- Learning Curve: It takes time to understand how modules connect and to customize them effectively.
- Customization Can Be Complex: Deep customization might require developer support, especially for advanced workflows.
- Mobile App Limitations: The mobile version isn’t as robust as the web dashboard (though it’s improving).
Still, the benefits far outweigh these minor inconveniences especially once the system is properly set up.
Why Odoo Is Perfect for Freelancers and Small Businesses
If you run a small operation or work solo, Odoo helps you:
– Centralize your business tools
– Automate client onboarding and follow-ups
– Keep finances organized
– Scale your systems as your business grows
It’s cost-effective, flexible, and powerful enough to grow with you — which makes it perfect for long-term business sustainability.
In Conclusion..
After using Odoo for years – both personally and for client projects – I can confidently say it’s one of the most powerful, affordable, and flexible business management systems available today.
Whether you’re a freelancer looking to streamline your work or a small business owner tired of juggling apps, Odoo deserves a serious look.
If you’d like to explore how Odoo can transform your workflow, or if you need a custom dashboard tailored to your business, I’d be happy to help.
