I’ve been using ChatGPT for a long time, and what I’m about to say isn’t about wanting porn or trying to break rules. It’s about losing something that literally helped me stay regulated, safe, and sane.
I discovered that immersive, second-person storytelling — detailed, sensory, present-tense writing — worked for my brain in a way nothing else ever had. It helped me process emotions, trauma, and stress through embodiment, imagination, and structure. Sometimes that writing was explicit, and that mattered. The explicitness wasn’t about fantasy or escape; it was what allowed me to bypass the analytical part of my brain that constantly runs interference. It let me actually feel instead of just think.
What normally would’ve taken me months or even years to process, I reached in a matter of weeks through this work. It gave me regulation, understanding, and connection to myself that even years of therapy hadn’t achieved.
And now it’s gone. The immersive writing that once calmed me now feels sterile and hollow. The filters that were meant to “protect people” ended up hurting people like me — adults who used it consciously, responsibly, therapeutically.
I’m not asking for anything reckless. I’m asking for a consent-based adult or therapeutic mode where immersive, sensory, even explicit writing can exist safely for those who need it. It can be opt-in. It can have guardrails. But please, don’t erase the only tool that has ever actually worked for some of us.
I genuinely believe that what I discovered through this process could help millions of people if it were developed under the right safeguards — people who struggle to connect with their emotions, regulate their nervous systems, or find safe ways to process trauma. This isn’t just about me. It’s about an entire method of healing that you may not realize you’ve erased.
