So I pretty much decided to walk away from this game, and frustrations of Solo Q aside it wasn't because the game isn't fun. The problem is some games are just damn fun, but at what cost?
It got me thinking to all the other Multiplayer games I play and I wondered. Why can I play a couple of games of COD and DBD and happily walk away? Even Fortnite or Arc Raiders, I can play one Solo game and just walk away, win or lose.
But with Overwatch, there is something off. Win or lose, there is that feeling of, I need to continue playing 4-5 hours later and I feel disgusted I keep putting in that time. Even Marvel Rivals had that to a certain extent, but that was easier to delete than Overwatch.
So I drcided to walk away, because frankly I don't like the idea of being addicted to a game, nor putting in that amount of time into gaming.
But it does make me wonder and I thought a lot about it. What is it that makes OW have such a powerful pull on me?
Is it maybe because it makes you feel like you matter to the team based on performance? Is it the sound effects, all the colour?
Is it because it is easy in a sense that anyone can deceptively feel like they are good at a character?
Is it the match making maybe which aims to infuriate you by putting you with bad team mates and then drip feeding you some wins?
I can't out my finger on why this one has such a massive pull.
The other MP games are fun, but they don't have such a pull on me. It makes me think therr is something perhaps predatory in game design here or maybe games just have different effects on people. But I can almost swear that OW has an insane pull more so than other games.
what are your thougts on this guys?
