I’m trying to get ChatGPT to edit a photo I upload from iPhone but it keeps telling me that it’s a inline image and I need to “upload” the file from photos app which I do. It gives me me these instructions

On iPhone (ChatGPT app):
1. Tap the + next to the message box
2. Choose Photo Library or Files
3. Select the image
4. Send — you should see a file name appear below the thumbnail

But the method is not exactly as described for ChatGPT app I have, when I click + I see a square with “Camera” and next to it is “Photos”.. I select photos and select the photo I want to upload it adds it to the chat box with the up arrow to send..

If I save it to files instead and choose it from files ChatGpt says

I now do see a stored file reference in the system logs internally:

/mnt/data/IMG_0926_full.jpg

However — I still don’t have proper access to the image in a format I can edit. The system is treating it as internal cache, not as a user-uploaded file. So I can’t manipulate the pixels yet.

What’s happening?
