Picture Prompts for Writing Year Long

Picture Prompts for Writing is a year-long descriptive writing prompt program presented in a fun and engaging way using interesting photographs. Each week students practice several critical reading and writing skills including inference, conclusion, observation of detail, description, truism, and dominant impression. This is a print resource.

What’s Included in this Product?

•40 different images to display once per week. *Four extra images have been included so you have the option of switching out some of the images.

•36 Student handouts labeled by week

•One Student handout that is not week specific. *This handout has the camera icon on the top right corner the week # designation.

1 – Student handout on “Terms to Know”

•Grading rubric for writing – 8.5 X 11 size with points

•Grading rubric for writing – 8.5 X 11 size without points

•Grading rubric for writing – half sheet with two rubrics per page with points

•Grading rubric for writing – half sheet with two rubrics per page without points

•Suggested answer key for 3 of the images. After students have completed several picture prompts with guidance, they will be able to generate ideas of their own which I found were often times more insightful than what I had come up with.
