Planned Parenthood- Florida- Medically Needy Program

I applied for Medicaid and only qualified for the Medically Needy Program with a share cost of $1907.

I have an appointment with Planned Parenthood for a new visit, Pap smear with cultures check and hpv test. I told them that I was uninsured because I honestly forgot about the Medically Needy Program until later today, and they quoted me with around $600/$700 for uninsured patients.

I know that when you use insurance they tend to bill your insurance at a higher cost than people who pay out of pocket. I’m scared to let them know that I have the insurance through the medically needy program because if all those test don’t reach $1907 then I will end up paying out of pocket at a higher rate than if I didn’t use the insurance.

Has anyone done these tests with insurance? If so, how much did they charge your insurance? I’m not sure what to do either. Should I mention this to the front desk when I go? I’m really worried about the cost with and without insurance because even those $700 out of pocket is a lot for me and if I let them know that I have Medicaid and the costs are less than $1907, then I’ll end up paying more. I’m not sure if I’m making myself any sense but hopefully someone out there can understand me and give me some advice. Thank you!
