Please vote YES on the three housing ballot questions.

On this year's ballot there are three housing related questions, which can greatly determine if NYC meets its housing goals in the next several years.

The first two are just related to the speed in which these applications can move forward, which can sometimes delay projects to the point where they don't make sense financially. I don't think it should take half a decade to get much needed housing approved anyway. I also hate it when a lot sits empty forever while approval is stalled.

The main focus here is going to be Question 4, or the 3rd housing question. This gives the mayor the ability to basically VETO the council when it comes to affordable housing decisions. The reason this is important (as we saw with the city of yes council fight), the council is mostly captured by homeowners, who don't care at all about building substantial affordable housing. The city is basically short a MILLION units of housing. We are simply not going to reach that target unless aggressive action is taken, which the council will NOT support. I fear that Zohran will simply not be able to deliver the housing that he wants to deliver without this ballot proposal passing.

The council speaker who represents a suburban district is currently sending out illegal campaign flyers in an attempt to kill these ballot proposals. Most progressives in the city do however support them. Please VOTE YES.
