Hey Friend!
If you’ve been feeling like making a podcast is on your heart, but you have no idea where to start, this one is for you! I have created a FREE step-by-step podcast launch checklist to give you everything you need to know about creating and launching your own show. I’ll take you through every step in this post, but you’re definitely going to want to grab the checklist, too. It’s got tutorials, links to podcast episodes, and a whole lot more to help you get started!
Making a Podcast in 30 Days Using This Simple Podcast Launch Checklist
To launch your show successfully, you need to start with the basics. You want to get the foundations right to build your show on solid ground.

Step 1 of the Podcast Launch Checklist: Plan Out the Fundamentals
- Set a launch date for your show. 30 days is realistic to get all the pieces ready to go.
- Name your show and create your 5-tier brand map. Ensure you have a strong title for your podcast.
- Create the tagline for your show. Your tagline must be super clear and convey exactly what your show promises. Your listeners need to know what your show is about.
- Create channel art for your show. The graphic needs to look good and professional.
- Write a description for your show. This gives potential listeners more detail about your show and how you’re going to help solve their problems.
- Pick your podcast category. This will help you get found on the podcast sites.
- Build your show content pillars. This is what you will talk about on your show.
- Understand your avatar. You need to know who you’re speaking to and their needs!
- Decide on your podcast structure. Will you do seasons or episodes? What will be the frequency, and how long will each episode be?
- Sign up with your podcast host. I use Podbean for my podcast.
- Choose your recording software. This is where you’ll record and edit your episodes.
- Plan out your first three episodes. What would you like to discuss for the first few episodes that will be part of your launch?
Step 2: Set Up the Technical Pieces for Making Your Show
This step is about getting the technical pieces set up and ready to go so you can actually publish your new show.
- Set up your RSS feed so it appears on all platforms. You can do this inside your host platform. I also teach you how to do this in my course, Podcast Pro University. If you need help understanding the tech, this course will help you do that!
- Record an intro and an outro. This typically gives your listeners some basic info about your show with music in the background.
- Lay out your episode outline and content with your avatar in mind.
- Organize each episode according to the ISTC formula: Introduce, Storytelling, Tips/Training, and Call to Action. You can learn more about storytelling here.
- Create a list of your first 10 episodes.
- Record and edit your first three episodes.
- Upload your first 3 episodes to your host.
Step 3: Launch Your Podcast
You may be feeling some anxiety as it comes to this stage, but I promise you that you are qualified to start your own show. It’s totally possible for you to make money with a podcast! Don’t let those fears keep you stuck. You have to begin and hit publish.

I have a super simple 7-step launch strategy plan in the podcast checklist. It will help you have a highly successful launch so that once you’ve finished making your show, you can easily get it out into the world and gain traction.
