It is embarrassing how much of a fangirl I am of this author, but beyond my flagrant love for his writing, I want to say that this book has genuinely changed my life.

There are so many things that are right in and with this book. One of them is the fact that it never occurred to me that you can simply question things without really caring about the outcome or the tone of the answer being given.

This hit me harder when I read Mendaus’s letter in response to Ihechi’s first initial letter. The letter he had finally sent six months after he left Lagos without a word of his departure to any of his friends. Six months since they all lost a mutual friend and needed the warm embrace of one another the most as they grieved the pain of her departure…
