If basic human decency feels like luxury, the bar is in hell.
A girl I follow on TikTok posted a video of her boyfriend bringing her soup when she was sick.
The caption read:
Princess treatment 🥹.
Half the comments agreed. The other half said: isn’t that just… basic care?
This is the debate right now: What’s princess treatment, and what’s the bare minimum?
Princess treatment usually means going above and beyond — flowers on a random Tuesday, remembering her coffee order, planning a date without being asked. The little extras that make you feel adored.
Bare minimum is, well, showing up. Responding to texts. Being honest. Treating you with respect.
The problem is that on TikTok (and in life), these categories blur. A guy texts back within an hour — princess treatment! He introduces you to his friends — princess treatment! But really, these should be baseline behaviors.
As one commenter wrote,
“If basic human decency feels like luxury, the bar is in hell.”
She’s not wrong.
