I am a consultant respiratory paediatrician, one of only a few
in the UK who does nothing else. My NHS practice is at the
Royal Brompton Hospital in London, the national referral
centre for diseases of the lungs and heart for children (and
indeed adults).
There, we have one of the largest adult and paediatric clinics
for cystic fibrosis in the world, one of the largest primary
ciliary dyskinesia clinics in Europe and the largest difficult
asthma clinic in the UK. My other specialist areas are firstly
sleep medicine for children and we have one of the largest
groups of children dependent on non-invasive ventilation in
the world and secondly food allergies, such a common problem
nowadays.
Following on from my doctoral thesis, my research interests
centre on respiratory physiology and cystic fibrosis. If you
