prompts fix structure but tone still feels impossible, how do you handle it?

I’ve been grappling with this small but super irritating problem: the instant I let AI write anything for me, it turns into this excessively nice and tidy “AI voice.” I’ve wasted days mucking with prompts syntax tweaks, vibe hints, banned phrases, bouncing between ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude to see if any of them would sound at all like me. The structuring was always there,it never spewed nonsense, but it certainly never sounded like me. More like a fresher, faker, slightly more polished version of me.

What helped wasn’t another prompt trick at all. I kept the raw output and ran it through a little tone-fiddling tool that essentially doesn’t “rewrite” anything. It would just ease the stiffness out. Somehow that tiny pass shoved the wording much closer to my usual flow! Prompts deal with logic, but it feels like tone is a post processing problem. Now my workflow is generate clean, tone, send.

Is this just a me problem? How do you keep your personal voice from disappearing?

edit: A few people were curious about what I meant by a “tone-fixing step.” It’s nothing fancy, I’ve been running the raw text through PaperBleach, since it doesn’t rewrite anything, it just takes the stiffness out. For whatever reason, that little tweak keeps the wording closer to my actual voice than any prompt hack I’ve tried.
