In April 2023, I received direct verbal and written communications from Christopher J. Pierro Jr., a self-described Son of Sam researcher from Yonkers, New York. During those conversations, Pierro stated that he planned on finding Manny Grossman at a café and “taking care of him.” Out of concern for the safety of everyone involved in this research community, a call was placed to the NYPD to report the threat.
A Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request has since been filed to confirm the call’s entry into NYPD records. I have maintained phone logs, text message history, and transcribed calls documenting these interactions.
Pierro also told another researcher that he and a friend within the same community planned on “sending two men out to beat the shit out of Manny Grossman.” Given these repeated threats, I do not regret reporting the matter despite Grossman’s own antagonistic conduct online. Pierro’s volatility and the documented statements he made to multiple researchers justified alerting law enforcement.
Additional issues regarding Pierro’s conduct are documented in my communications history; however, due to the ongoing legal review, I will not be providing further details at this time. All material has been turned over to my legal counsel for analysis and recordkeeping.
On October 8, 2024, the Greenwich Free Press reported that Christopher J. Pierro, age 39, of Yonkers, NY, was arrested by Greenwich Police following an assault at Eastend Restaurant (409 Greenwich Ave). According to the police report, around 11:00 p.m., Pierro allegedly pushed a woman and punched a man multiple times, causing the victim to lose consciousness. A second nearby altercation was also linked to Pierro based on matching suspect descriptions.
He was charged with two counts of Breach of Peace, 2nd Degree, and one count of Assault, 2nd Degree, a Class D felony. Pierro’s bond was set at $5,000, which he posted for release. He was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on October 18, 2024.
The 2024 arrest is publicly documented and entirely separate from the prior threats I reported. However, taken together, these events raise legitimate safety and credibility concerns regarding Pierro’s ongoing presence in online research circles if he were to chose to return.
This statement is being released to ensure transparency and to clarify that all steps taken — including the NYPD report, FOIL request, and legal review — were done out of a duty to protect the safety of others within the Son of Sam research community and to preserve the integrity of this investigative community.
No further public comment will be made while this matter remains under legal review.
