If I wait for approval on the MAWD, I might miss the open enrollment window to choose a plan via Pennie. The insurance I'd be provided via MAWD would be so much better and more affordable than these plans I'm seeing on the Pennie website.
I don't know how long it's going to take to get an approval decision for MAWD. I sent my appeal paperwork out on Monday 11/17. I should've put on my original application for Medicaid that I would be interested in MAWD if denied to regular Medicaid. The XAO denied me and I filled out the appeal paperwork, requesting to be considered for MAWD.
The open enrollment info I've found regarding Pennie states that open enrollment is 11/1/25 through 1/15/26 but it also says that the deadline for January 1st coverage is 12/15. That's a bit confusing…if I enroll in a Pennie plan after 12/15/25 but before 1/15/26, when would my coverage start? Or am I misunderstanding all of this?
I'm really in a dilemma here. I don't want to be denied MAWD if I choose a Pennie plan. In the slight chance that I get denied for MAWD, I don't want it to be too late to enroll in a Pennie plan.
Can anyone assist me please?
