I feel angry and saddened by the fact that of the BBB Act of 2025 will soon become part of the law. It is going to affect people who have both SSI and QMB in the state where I live, which is the State of Wyoming.
Prior to October 2024, when I had tried to apply for QMB last May, I was told that I do not need QMB because I have SSI. In other words, the eligibility worker in question refused to evaluate my potential eligibility for QMB until last October. I didn't file a request for an administrative hearing only because of the rule changes regarding the streamlining of MSP eligibility for certain SSI recipients who have Medicare. The only reason why they decided to evaluate my potential eligibility for QMB at that time was for the same reason. That being said, I know that I will most likely no longer have QMB because I receive SSI. I am frightened and stressed beyond words.
What should I expect when I file a request for an administrative hearing?
