Missouri’s Republicans in DC need to answer for these harmful policies.
Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are set to mark up their proposed budget in committee today — and the Missouri Democratic Party is highlighting that Missouri’s Republicans in DC need to oppose this budget because it would gut healthcare for Missourians and devastate rural hospitals by slashing Medicaid and Medicare.
As ABC News reports, House Republicans are proposing a budget that includes “deep cuts” to Medicaid and “calls for a fundamental reshaping of Medicare over the next decade by introducing a voucher system.”
Missouri’s Republicans in DC — including Representatives Ann Wagner (MO2), Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO3), Vicky Hartzler (MO4), Sam Graves (MO6), Billy Long (MO7), and Jason Smith (MO8) — should oppose this Republican budget. As a candidate, President Donald Trump explicitly promised to not cut Medicaid and Medicare.
Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber stated:
“Just like their disastrous and unpopular healthcare overhaul, the Republican budget will empty the pockets and threaten the health of older, sick and working Missourians. The state’s Republicans in DC need to answer for these harmful policies.”
