Today I am going to share my book review for the book “The Summer I turned Pretty” by Jenny Han.
P.S The book is a trilogy (1-The summer I turned pretty, 2- It’s not summer without you, 3- We’ll always have summer); Later on, it was turned into a Series (Season 1, season 2) which I highly recommend to watch in order for you to live the whole experience after reading the book.
Let’s start with an overview of the story, and then discuss things separately.
Overview:
The story is about a summer vacation memory, that Helds special moment for two families, daughter of one is Billy that decided this exceptional summer some things need to be changed, and she needs to discover herself more and more taking of action. [ Let’s just not forget it is a teen story, so the whole story drops in this].
This article will discuss the first book, and my point of view for the 1st season’s episode related to this one.
Characters
First of all, I absolutely love the description of the characters, I might not agree on certain things with characters, but I do love the diversity, the friendship, motherhood values, and the brotherhood values, the real meant of enjoying the time with your family and friends.
I wouldn’t agree tho on how some of them are being represented as if their acts are totally normal and logic, my talk here is for the female actress leader, in some scenes she passed the limits of being teenager to a psychopath and unstable person.
However, for the male leaders bring another flavor to the cake; Jeremiah a 100% teenager that I wouldn’t say he respected the bond between him and his brother, and no I am not saying I am team Corayl BUT their are a light difference between them that I makes me choose Corayl over Jeremiah.
