Last year my company changed the way it handles annual performance reviews. Instead of getting your annual based on the month you were hired, the whole company started getting their reviews at the same time. That change went into effect almost exactly a year ago… which means… it’s time for everyone in the company to get another annual review.
I got mine this morning and I gave the first one to a member of my staff this afternoon. Tomorrow I give three more. My brain, which is already damaged by daily migraine headaches, is going to melt and drip out of my ear holes.
I don’t think the new policy is a bad thing. I like the idea of going through most of the year without having to worry about reviews. The downside, obviously, is having to do them all at once. That is stressful and given the headache situation, painful. Once I get through tomorrow I’ll be done with everything except the final paperwork. Granted, that final paperwork is a suck fest as well, but I’ll be a whole lot closer to being done for another year than I am today. Let’s just survive tomorrow.
Change of subject, did you catch the first episode of It: Welcome to Derry? It was pretty good. There were no scary clowns, but there was a flying mutant bat-winged baby that caused quite a bit of ruckus. I’m looking forward to episode two next week.
My headache was particularly awful this morning. It hurt like a mother fucker. I expect the reason for the extreme nature of the pain was in some way related to Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins giving up seven goals to the fucking Ottawa Senators last night. I can’t prove it, but I am pretty sure the two things are related.
Throwing Muses is playing in New York on Saturday November 8th. Tickets are still available. I wonder if my wife would want to go with me? After seeing Belly last week it’s only right that we’d see the Muses too, right? It just makes sense.
Okay, I have a meeting to go to in a few minutes. I’ll check in again later.
