Scary Movie 3 is my favorite among Scary Movie….movies. David Zucker directed Scary Movie 3 and 4. Anna Farris and Regina Hall reprise their roles as Cindy and Brenda and they have to work with Charlie Sheen.
Plot
The main parodies of Scary Movie 3 are The Ring and Signs. The movie opened with Pam Anderson and Jenny McCarthy watching the killer videotape. There was also a scene where a crop circle was found in Tom (Charlie Sheen) and George’s (Simon Rex) farm. The crop circle reads “attack here” and has an arrow pointing to their house, cliché and cartoonish, but effective (in a cute corny way). The rest of the movie is about Cindy solving the mystery of the killer videotape. There were also aliens involved, for some reasons.
Memorable Scenes
There are a lot of funny scenes. There is this one scene when George was a white rapper (a reference to 8 Mile) and the rap-off judge is Simon Cowell. Simon went on to say the place was “totally pathetic”. After saying that, everyone in the club SHOT him.
The video tape is cursed and everyone who watches it dies. But they aired the video tape on national TV. There were also funny spoofs with Matrix Reload, which was a big movie at that time.
One memorable scene was the fight between Brenda (Regina Hall) and Tabitha (the Sadako spoof character). Everyone is creeped out with Sadako in The Ring. Just imagine watching a long haired girl wearing white dress dripping with dirty water while your TV starts dripping dirty water and that girl came out of it to attack YOU; But with Brenda, she went ahead and beat the sh** out of Tabitha.
Scary Movie 3 is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. I’m not a fan of comedy in movies (but I do love TV comedy) and it takes a lot to genuinely make me laugh. This movie made me laugh, and that says a lot. Scary Movie 3 is heavy on observational comedy and pop culture reference rather than childish and cartoonish humor.
