Hi everyone,

a friend approached us after another friend's grandmother died if we could take care of the grandmother's senior cat (Mimi).

My boyfriend and I had hesitated to get a cat since we live in a two room flat in a big city. However, we couldn't say no because Mimi didn't like the outdoors anymore and they would have taken her to the shelter as they couldn't find anyone to take care of her.

We've had her for a little bit more than 3 months now and I completely fell in love with her. My boyfriend has sleeping issues though and Mimi is very loud, especially at night (I'm blessed to sleep through it most of the times). She can't hear well anymore, so I guess she is overcompensating with the noise. Some nights she's calm, but every second or third night she cries intensely and loudly for longer bouts of time.

Mimi has access to our bed room, where she will usually lie down next to us when we go to sleep. First crying usually starts after she got up to go to pee. Her toilet is in the next room.

Her situation at night:
– She gets a portion of wet food right before we go to bed. Water is always accessible.
– She has access to all rooms at night including our bedroom.
– We attached baby lights on her way to the toilet and next to it.
– She has access to a scratching post and toys at night (We try to play with her during daytime but she rarely likes to).

What can we do?
My boyfriend said if the situation doesn't improve we have to give her away because he doesn't sleep much anymore. But I can't let that happen.
